The Adidas Brazuca is the official match ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which is being held in Brazil.It is made by the company Adidas, a FIFA Partner and FIFA World Cup Official Match Ball supplier since 1970.

Naming
The name of the ball was revealed on Sunday 2 September 2012. It was selected by a public vote organised by the Local Organising Committee and Adidas, with over one million Brazilian football fans voting. The name Brazuca was chosen with 77.8% of the vote.Two other voting options were given: Bossa Nova (14.6% of the vote) and Carnavalesca (7.6% of the vote).

According to FIFA, "the informal term 'brazuca' is used by Brazilians to describe national pride in the Brazilian way of life", and "mirroring their approach to football, it symbolises emotion, pride and goodwill to all". The term is also used as slang for "Brazilian" and became well-known abroad due to the Brazilian diaspora.

Technical aspects
The ball is a developmental successor to the Adidas Tango 12 series of balls, with the same bladder and carcass but a different surface structure. The ball weighs 437 grams and has a circumference of 69 centimetres. The ball has been made of six polyurethane panels which have been thermally bonded; the reduction in the number of panels is claimed to increase the consistency in the ball.The Brazuca ball has been stated to be more aerodynamic than the Jabulani ball used in South Africa for the previous World Cup. It is textured to feels more like the Adidas Finale 13, the official UEFA Champions League ball, than the Adidas Jabulani.

Testing
The Brazuca has gone through an extensive testing process before its use at the World Cup. Adidas had been developing the ball for over 2 years, and had worked with many teams and players to ensure the ball was acceptable. The ball has appeared in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, DFB-Pokal (German Cup) final as well as disguised as the Adidas Cafusa in international friendly matches.

Production
The Brazuca is produced in China and Pakistan. The original manufacturer is Taipei-based Long Way Enterprise who manufacture the ball in their subsidiary YaYork Plastic Products in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. The company has been associated with production of Adidas balls since 1997.

However Long Way was unable to meet the high demand for the ball. A second supplier, Forward Sports (based in Sialkot, Pakistan), was brought in to help manufacture the ball. Forward Sports, who have been associated with Adidas since 1995 and already supplied footballs for both the Champions League and the German Bundesliga, were awarded the contract by Adidas at short notice after the original manufacturer in China failed to meet the demand[citation needed]. Over 42 million Brazuca balls were exported from Sialkot.

Each ball is expected to be sold for around US$160.

Argentina were the favourites in the last three world cups but they always came up short in the knockout stages, nwo they have a chance and a great team to back up their claim as one of the best football nation in the world. Playing in very familiar conditions of South American, Argentina has all the ingrediants and attitude to go all the way this time around. Bosnia do have some quality players in their lineup and I expect them to get through this group with Argentina.

Argentina vs Bosnia & Herzegovina Starting Lineups:

One of the favourites to lift the trophy, Argentina has the strongest strike force in the world cup. With Aguero, Messi and Di Mari you have goals coming from everywhere. While they also have the liberty to call Higuain and Rodrigo Placio from the bench. Bosnia on the other hand are no pushovers, a very tough and physical side who can lock horns with the big boys. Here is the strongest lineups of both sides.

Argentina vs Bosnia Predictions:

Argentina are a quality attacking side, Bosnia on the other hand likes to keep the shape and stay compact when defending. Its a typical attack vs defence game where Argentina will have more of the possesion abd will create more chances but Bosnia will be looking to counter attack with pace and use the tall man city target man Dzeko.

On paper it looks like an easy win for South American outfit, but I won't be surprised If bosnia and herzegovina manage to get somthing out of this match. Having said that if Messi's fitness levels are good I totaly expect him to take this world cup by storm. I am going with a 2-1 win for Argentina in this one.

England started the game brightly with their front four players causing problems for Italy defence but it was Italians who took the lead when Andrea Pirlo's superb dummy setup a great oppertunity of a shot on target outside box for Marchisio, who struck the ball neatly and put it in the bottom right corner with a hard low shot.

England took on Italy in the Group D game on Saturday night and the match turned out to be a rumble in the amazonia jungle. Marchisio and Sturridge scored for either side in the first half. Mario Balotelli made it 2-1 for Italy a Lead which they managed to defend quite easily in the end

Marchisio opened the scoring with low hard shot in the bottom corner

England's responce was immediate when Rahim Sterling found Rooney in space behind Italy defence on the right side, who took a couple of touches and put in lovely teasing cross at the back post where Sturridge was on hand to poke it home. Game was 1-1 at the break but England were the happier side going into the halftime having sustain constant pressure in the last few minutes, when Balotelli's lob was cleared off the line and a shot hit the goal post.

After the break Italy scored again through Mario Balotelli and that was the game there, after that it was typical italian side defending but England made it so easy for them by playing without any plan and intensity. Apart from one chance which fell to Wayne Rooney, England just could not pull two passed together. Now England has a mountain to climb as they need to win both of their remaining group games to qualify for next round.

Costa Rica pulled a "rabbit from the hat" when the came from behind to win against uruguay to setup the first big upset of the tournament.

Edinson Cavani scored from the penalty to make it 1-0 for Uruguay

Uruguay started the game on the front foot against north american outfit Costa Rica who went into the game as big under dogs, things went as planned in the first half as Uruguay created more chances and managed to win a penalty which was converted by PSG striker Edinson Cavani in the 24th minute. Game was 1-0 at the break and Costa rica were still in the game without having put Uruguay under any real trouble.

Joel Cambell and Duarte scored two quick goals to get Costa Rica 2-1 up

After the break however things turned around dramaticly as Costa Rica put Uruguay to sword, first they narrowly missed a couple of chances but they finaly got the equaliser through Arsenal striker Joel Cambell, this goal was followed by another quick goal in 57th minute when Oscar Duarte made it 2-1 for Costa Rica and setup a big finish.

South American outfit got an early lead against Greece in their opening world cup game and added two more goals in 2nd half to register their first win

Colombia took an early lead through Pablo Armero, the goal had a hint of offside but colombians dont mind as long as they all count. Greece started the game on back foot and that early goal was kick in the teeth fortheir traditional defensive style. After the goal Greek side had to come out and take the game to Colombia.

Colombia added 2nd goal after the break

Game was 1-0 at the break and although Greece put the latin side under some pressure towards the end of the first half, they were never really troubled in the final third apart from couple of half chances. Colombia on the other hand kept the intensity in their play which was rewarded in the 2nd half when Gutierrez scored in 58th minute to make it 2-0 and kill the tie off.

Costa Rica Stunned Uruguay In Group D Match

Costa Rica staged the first big upset of 2014 world cup when they hammered Uruguay by 3-1, Edinson Cavani put uruguay 1-0 up with his penalty goal in first half but goals from Cambell, Duarte and Urena turned the tables in second half.

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell scored to get Costa Rica back into the game.

Now Costa Rica sit top of the Group D and they have put themselves into a great position of making it through to the knockout stages.

Luis Suarez is so eager to start against Costa Rica that he has been going through an accelerated fitness programme which consist of 3 sessions a day. But I am quite confident that Suarez won't start against Costa Rica as they would not want to risk his fitness, but as the things stand he is preparing himself for the england come on 19th June.

It was all too easy for Colombia football team who was playing in familiar conditions as the disposed off Greece in style with a 3-0 win. From the first few games its evident that these South American teams will be hard to play against and we might have a all latin american final this year.

Italy secured their very first win in the world cup 2014 and it came against England in the group d clash on saturday night.

England were poor against Italy in their opening group game in Manaus, Italy took the lead through Marchisio on a very good rehersed corner kick, Sturridge put England back on lever terms before the break but another goal from italy at the start of 2nd half was enough to see off England. How now have to win both of their remaining games to stand to make through knockout stages.
